If Candela ever ceases operations, we guarantee 90 days advance notice and a full data export window. This commitment is in our Terms of Service.
They passed a while ago. Can I still create a memorial?
Absolutely. Many families create memorials months or years after a loss, often around a birthday, anniversary, or holiday. There is no expiration date on honoring someone you love. A memorial can be started with just a name and a photo. Add to it whenever you are ready.
I’m not technical. Can I do this?
Yes. If you can upload a photo to your phone, you can create a memorial. Enter your loved one’s name, upload a photo, and the memorial is live. Everything else, from adding more photos to sharing stories and inviting family, happens at your own pace. Candela will be here whenever you’re ready.
Who can see the memorial?
You control visibility. Memorials can be shared publicly or kept private. Only people with the direct link can view a private memorial. Wallet prayer cards are private to each person who saves them. We never sell data, display ads, or share photos with third parties.
What is a digital prayer card?
A Candela prayer card saved to Apple Wallet on your phone. It includes your loved one’s photo, name, dates, and a selected prayer or blessing from multiple faith traditions (or your own words). Once saved, it appears alongside your other Wallet cards, a quiet, permanent reminder. No app download required.
How is this different from a Facebook memorial page?
Candela memorials are permanent, ad-free, and designed specifically for remembrance. Facebook memorial pages exist within a social media feed alongside ads and unrelated content. Candela provides a dedicated space with photo galleries, guided storytelling, candle lighting, and a Wallet prayer card that lives on your phone. None of which Facebook offers.
